At Richmond House, we provide a stimulating, fun and safe learning environment within our Nursery and Pre-school settings, that nurtures enquiring young minds and ensures a happy beginning to your child’s educational journey.

Curriculum

Our Nursery and Pre-school follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum which is split into seven areas of learning:

  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Development
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

Teaching

Our Nursery and Pre-school are led by fully qualified teachers, who are supported by teaching assistants. Children also enjoy sessions with specialists in Ballet, Drama, French, Music, Outdoor Learning and PE.

Pastoral Care

At the heart of all our endeavours lies the wellbeing of our pupils. We recognise the profound importance of pastoral care in nurturing happy, confident, and resilient individuals. We take pride in our safe and supportive environment that enables children to thrive, explore, and expand their understanding of themselves and the world around them.

At Richmond House, children are encouraged to treat each other with empathy, respect, and compassion. We believe that fostering a culture of kindness not only leads to harmonious relationships but also supports the emotional wellbeing of our pupils.

Children leave Richmond House happy, confident, and well-prepared for the next stage in their education, and life.

Healthy eating

Delicious, well-balanced lunches are freshly prepared daily in the school kitchen by the magnificent Mrs Dean, our School Catering Manager, and her brilliant team. We specially cater for allergies and provide a vegetarian alternative every day. Morning and afternoon snacks are also provided.

French

Our youngest pupils love their weekly French lessons. Children are taught words and phrases through stories, practical activities, and song, assisted by our cuddly French bear, Camembear.

Outdoor Learning

Our Outdoor Learning programme encourages holistic development, fosters a love for the natural world and brings curriculum subjects to life. Lessons are held in our ever-evolving Outdoor Learning Area, which boasts a yurt classroom, tepee, fire pit and a mini-beast area. Our pupils also delight in spending time in our Secret Garden where they learn how to plant and harvest seasonal produce.

Performing Arts

Our pupils participate in weekly Music lessons led by our specialist Music teachers. These lessons focus on instilling the fundamental principles of rhythm and melody, laying the groundwork for future instrument learning as they progress through school.

In our nurturing environment, little stars take centre stage as they delight in engaging Drama lessons. These sessions are crafted to spark creativity, enhance communication skills, and foster self-expression and do so through storytelling and role-play.

Through Ballet lessons, children not only discover the joy of movement but also develop essential motor skills and coordination. Led by skilled instructors, these sessions are a delightful blend of fun and fundamentals.

Children participate in a variety of performances which are a highlight of the school calendar and create memories that parents will cherish forever.

Sport

Pupils receive weekly PE lessons, guided by our team of talented and dedicated coaches. Lessons take place in our gymnasium and across our expansive 10-acre sports fields and courts and focus on developing gross motor skills as well fundamentals such as coordination, agility, and balance.

Facilities

Pupils benefit from the wide range of facilities the school has to offer including: a specialist outdoor play area, 10 acres of fields, yurt, secret garden, adventure playground, gymnasium, and a library.

Sessions

We accept children into Nursery from age 2. Our Nursery offers flexible sessions, with a recommended minimum number of 5 sessions (2 1/2 days) per week. You can choose between full day sessions, morning sessions, afternoon sessions or a combination of these depending on individual requirements and availability.

Wraparound Care

We understand that busy parents require the upmost flexibility, and we know that many require different care arrangements every week, if not every day. We offer exceptional wraparound care from 7:30am until 6:00pm. Unlike many settings, here at Richmond House, parents can book care on a termly, weekly, or daily basis.

Running late or have something urgent to attend to? No problem, notify the school at any time during the school day and we will make sure your child will be cared for and entertained until your arrival. Last minute change of plans meaning you no longer require wraparound care? Simply get in touch to let us know.

Pre Care runs from 7.30am until 8.30am when the school day starts. A breakfast of cereal, toast, crumpets, muffins, fruit, and juice is included.

We finish the school day at 3:30pm. After Care runs until 6.00pm. A light tea is served at 4.45 pm. After Care until 4:00pm is free, but must be booked, after that it is charged until 6:00pm.
