About Richmond House School
Richmond House School is an independent preparatory school providing the highest standards of education for children aged 2 to 11 years.
The school is ideally situated in the leafy suburbs of Far Headingley, North Leeds, only 3 miles away from Leeds City Centre and close to the main commuter routes to Harrogate and Bradford. The school boasts extensive facilities, including 10 acres of sports fields, an adventure playground, tennis courts, an Outdoor Learning area with an outdoor classroom and a large private car park.
What makes Richmond House School special is the warm, family atmosphere. We are a large enough community to be diverse, but small enough for everyone to know everyone. Above all, we believe our children are happy and enjoy coming to school.
We recognise that all our children have different strengths and characteristics and our small class sizes allow us to identify and build on individual talents. We are a two form entry, with a maximum of 18 children in each class.
Where Children Are Happy To Learn
The majority of our children join us in Nursery, where we accept children from age 2, although some children start in Reception, depending on availability. The children develop and flourish within the safe and stimulating environment of the Early Years setting, where they grow in confidence. The children in Early Years are all valuable members of the school community, using the school facilities and enjoy weekly lessons in French, PE, Music and Outdoor Learning.
Years 1 and 2 continue to build on the specialist teaching of Early Years, in addition to making full use of the Art, Science and DT rooms. Years 3-6 have further specialist teaching in Science and Modern Foreign Languages, and continue to flourish in independence and confidence, so they are fully prepared to move onto their chosen senior school when the time comes.
Our highly skilled and dedicated staff are committed to giving each child the opportunity to develop into confident, hardworking, successful individuals, ready for senior school and the life beyond.
Developing personal strengths
We offer a challenging and varied curriculum, with specialist teaching in many subjects including French, Music, Science, PE and Art. Academic success is reflected in our 11+ examination results, with pupils having their choice of secondary schools and a substantial number being awarded scholarships each year.
Sport and Performing Arts is very important at Richmond House School, and every child is encouraged to explore and develop their personal strengths. We also have an extensive programme of extra-curricular activities which range from cookery and football to Lego club and choir, offering something for everyone.
We offer wrap-around care from 7:30am – 6:00pm run by our own staff team, and along with our year round holiday clubs, our flexible provision allows busy parents to only book the sessions they need.
We are proud to be accredited by the Incorporated Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS) and the Independent Schools’ Council (ISC). We are regularly inspected under the auspices of Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).
