Children’s Mental Health Week took place from 9–15 February, with this year’s theme, “This Is My Place,” encouraging pupils to reflect on what it means to belong and to feel part of something important.
Throughout the week, pupils explored the theme during PSHE lessons and assemblies, discussing the different groups and communities they are part of — from family and friendship circles to school teams and clubs. Conversations focused on the feelings associated with belonging and how we can ensure that everyone feels included, valued and respected.
Teachers created space for open discussion, giving children the opportunity to share their thoughts and experiences. Pupils considered how small actions — kindness, listening, inviting others to join in — can make a significant difference in helping someone feel that they truly have a place.
To celebrate individuality, children were invited to “come as themselves” on Friday by wearing something that makes them feel special. The day also included a shared hot chocolate at playtime, providing a relaxed opportunity for pupils to talk, connect and spend time with different friends.
The week was a meaningful reminder that mental health awareness is woven into daily school life. By continuing to nurture open conversations and a strong sense of community, we reinforce our commitment to ensuring every child feels that Richmond House is a place where they belong.
