The Department for Education has designated 2026 as the National Year of Reading, with the theme “Go All In”, encouraging children and young people to develop a lifelong love of reading.
At Richmond House, this message strongly reflects what we strive to instil in our pupils every day. We believe that reading is the foundation of learning, imagination, and curiosity, and we work hard to ensure that children are immersed in books from their very first days at school.
Pupils are given regular opportunities to read for pleasure as well as purpose, both in lessons and beyond the classroom. Our teaching staff actively encourage a love of stories, non-fiction, and poetry, helping children to discover authors, genres, and texts that excite and inspire them.
Central to this is our wonderfully stocked library, which offers a welcoming and engaging space filled with a wide range of books to suit all ages, interests, and reading levels. It is a place where pupils can explore, relax, and truly “go all in” on their reading journey.
As we celebrate the National Year of Reading, we look forward to continuing to nurture confident, enthusiastic readers who see books as a source of joy, learning, and lifelong enrichment.
