In English, Year 2 pupils have been exploring the short film ‘Something Fishy’. The story begins in a dimly-lit laundrette where a tired lady is yawning and waiting for her washing cycle to end. Suddenly, one of the washing machines begins to glow. Curious, she peers inside and is magically transported into an underwater world where t-shirts float like octopuses, hats drift like turtles, and socks dart through the water like tiny fish. Her adventure becomes even more exciting when she is chased by a shark – made out of a pair of jeans – before finally escaping back out of the washing machine.
Inspired by the film, the pupils have been creating their own imaginative collages of the washing machine and the laundry sea creatures within it. They have also practised describing this magical underwater world in words, and their work will soon be showcased in a colourful classroom display.
