As part of their Design and Technology lessons, Year 5 pupils are constructing an eccentric wheel model using cardboard and various timbers.
The process begins with creating a prototype from thick cardboard to test the mechanism and ensure it works properly. This prototype then serves as a template for their final model.
Pupils are working with a variety of tools and equipment, including squares, rulers, electric drills, electric saws, coping saws, junior hacksaws, nuts and bolts, spanners, and Allen keys. They’re also using a laminator and computers to design and print decorative images to add to the front of their models.
This project combines practical skills, creativity, and technology, resulting in impressive and personalised eccentric wheel models!
