We were incredibly fortunate to have Mrs Coates-Renwick, a parent at Richmond House, visit us to share her grandfather’s medals and other artefacts from his military career, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Landings. The children were captivated and engaged, showing genuine interest as they examined the artefacts and posed thoughtful questions. Additionally, Year 3 had the opportunity to speak to our very own paratrooper and IT guru, Mr Bevin, for a first-hand account of his experience. Mrs Barnham’s grandfather, a commander of a US sub sinker who survived the D-Day invasion, also shared photos and letters of his experience, further enriching our understanding of this historic event.
