Cygnets have been learning about and celebrating different countries and cultures. Following on from the success of the careers dress-up day, children were invited to come to school on Tuesday dressed in either typical national clothing from a country or the colours of a country’s national flag. There were some wonderful costumes on display, a great deal of fun was had, and lots was learned. To round the day off, pupils learned and performed a haka, which is a ceremonial Maori war dance or challenge that represent a display of a tribe’s pride, strength and unity.
