This year our guest speaker for our annual Prize Giving Event was Annette Roberts. With over 30 years’ experience teaching and in senior management roles in education, Annette is passionate about giving children and young people the very best start in life.

Annette is a trustee of the Classrooms in the Clouds (CITCNepal). The charity exists to support education in Nepal and achieves this by building schools, supporting the employment and professional development of teachers and helping children. The organisation works in partnership with local communities and operates in a culturally empathetic way as a means of creating sustainable solutions.

To date, CITCNepal has built 60 classrooms in 8 different locations, 8 libraries and gender-specific toilets. The work is mainly in the remote rural mountain area of Lower Solu Khumbu usually away from the main tourist routes and ‘below the radar’ of many NGOs.

Richmond House School has made a small donation to the charity which we hope will go a little way to helping support the extremely important work they are doing for education in Nepal.

“I am delighted that Richmond House School have made a donation to Classroom in the Clouds. Having visited Nepal in 2015, I quickly realised that there was little opportunity for children in the Everest region to attend school. Classroom in the Clouds has been instrumental in building schools and sponsoring teachers in this area of Nepal. Every penny raised goes towards the education for children if all ages. So, thank you to the Richmond House community.”
