We had a great day at the House Christmas Cross Country event last week. The event, which took place on a 1 km course around the school fields was a great end to a busy Autumn term.
The weather was perfect, and all of the children from Nursery up to Year 6 ran at least some of the course.
The course itself was a challenging run, anyone who has taken part in the 5K Family Fun Run will know that our fields are steeper than they look and the muddy conditions from the recent wet weather added an extra challenge.
The youngest children in Nursery and Reception ran their races in their Christmas jumpers and Santa hats and we were delighted to welcome parents into school to watch the races.
All of the older children gained house points for their house teams which are named after the local rivers – Swale, Nidd, Aire and Wharfe. These points are collected over the year both during the school day and also at events such as this. We are looking forward to many more over the next year.
