Tuesday 30 November – U9 Hockey at Bradford Grammar School

The U9 Girls Hockey teams had a successful trip to Bradford Grammar on Tuesday with both teams returning undefeated. Inspired by an enthusiastic team talk on the minibus led by Mrs Young, they hit the ground running and never looked back. They executed the game plan perfectly, attacking the opposition’s goal from the start and went from strength to strength. Ably led by their Captains, Lia and Mia, they displayed some excellent team work and positive encouragement throughout all the games, both on and off the pitch. Their hockey skills are developing well and there were a few excellent reverse stick manoeuvres from a number of players, including Lucy E, Poppy and Annabel. The girls are developing a much greater tactical awareness and the midfield players tried really hard to use the width of the pitch to stretch their opponents and put the strikers in excellent positions to head for goal, which they did on a number of occasions. The defenders waited patiently and stayed alert, and when the opposition broke free they were ready and waiting to step up to the challenge and made some superb tackles. Well done girls, a great team performance!
