Christmas is always a busy time at Richmond House School, with nativity performances from every class from Nursery to Year 2, and a large family Christmas Concert which is held at St Chad’s Church.
Although this year we have been unable to invite our families into school to watch these events, we did not want our children to miss out.
All children from Nursery to Year 2 took part in a joint Nativity performance, the play was filmed within their bubbles and each year group performed a section of the play. This was sent out for parents and children to view in the comfort of their own homes.
Upper School were not forgotten, instead of their usual Christmas concert, Years 3 – 6 took part in a Musical Showcase which was also filmed for parents. They sang a number of festive songs and also performed some of the music that they had been learning in school including a Christmas Rhythm rap, pentatonic patterns and their own Christmas Samba compositions.
The children really enjoy performing and it is important that we can still carry on with school events as much as possible. We look forward to the day we can welcome our parents back into school, but until then we hope that the virtual performances can make up for it.
