On Monday, Richmond House School was filled with wonderful vibrant colours, sounds and delicious smelling food, as Year 4 took part in their annual India Day event as part of their Humanities project on India.
The children dressed in saris and traditional Indian outfits and accessorised with jewellery, bangles and headwear which they had purchased from their visit to Bombay Stores in Bradford last week.
We were very fortunate to have some very talented family members who volunteered to come in on the day and draw Mendhi patterns on children’s hands and show the children how to make samosas and Indian sweets.
The children also made rangoli patterns with coloured rice and paisley patterned boxes for their Indian sweets.
The day ended with a fantastic Bollywood style dance workshop from the Trishool Dance Academy in Leeds.
