Richmond House School celebrated the European Day of Languages last week. We invited our pupils to wear something that represented a country or language of their choice, and there were some fantastic costumes and ideas.

On the day we were delighted to welcome Nathalie Paris and her Bibliobus into school. All of the children had the opportunity during lessons to visit the bus which is a treasure trove of language based books and games. In here the children listened and took part in songs and stories in different languages and were able to look at the books and play with the puppets.

The children also took part in competitions and other language activities to boost their language learning and awareness of other languages and cultures. It was also very interesting to find out how many of our pupils can speak an additional language.

The European Day of Languages (EDL) is celebrated across Europe on the 26th of September every year. It aims to promote the rich linguistic diversity of Europe and raise awareness of the importance of lifelong language learning for everyone.
