In the summer term we welcomed back Paula Tod, from Red Chalk. She visited Year 1 in order to explore imaginary castles in three-dimensional form. These were to be linked with the literacy work being done on Jack and the beanstalk. The basic structures, made with recycled materials, tape and Modrock were then painted at a later date. When they have outlived their literacy link they will then be recycled as mini beast homes.

This work gave Year 1 pupils a chance to interact with their peers across the whole year group as children visited Paula as small mixed groups from 1B and 1J.The messier it was the more many of the children seemed to enjoy it and it gave them the opportunity to create very strong structures.
