Health
and Fitness Week
March 10th – 14th was Health and Fitness Week and this was introduced
by “Jeanne Jeanne the Dancing Machine” who promoted the
benefits of doing lots of exercise and watching what you put into your
body.
All pupils were told of the importance of doing at least one hour’s
moderate activity each day and throughout the week completed a sheet
showing what exercise they had done and for how long.
During the week we had visitors from Leeds Metropolitan University
before school, at break time and lunchtime to do a range of fun activities
for all pupils. Year 5 and 6 walked up to Carnegie for an hour’s
fun exercise circuit organised by the University.
All pupils also participated in a sponsored skip in aid of the British
Heart Foundation and raised several thousand pounds. There was also
a “Guess the Vegetable” quiz to find out how well we could
recognise assorted vegetables.
This was a busy and fun week and hopefully we will all remember the
importance of watching what we put into our bodies and of doing at least
an hour’s exercise each day.
