Dear Parents
Year 5
Parents’ Consultations
This is on Wednesday 30 January and appointments with Mrs Edwards
and Mrs Starkie are from 4.00 pm. If you have not as yet booked a
time, please contact the Office on Monday.
Mrs Starkie will see parents in the 1B classroom, and Mrs Edwards
will see parents in the 3M classroom. I will be in the library,
where I will be happy to see you and share some information on
senior schools with you.
A Safety
Reminder
Please could we respectfully remind you that school opens for the
children at 7.45 am. In the interests of the safety of the children,
no child should be left unaccompanied on the school premises before
this time. Naturally, if you arrive slightly earlier than this time,
you are welcome to wait in the Dining Room with your child until
Before School care begins.
People
Miss Turner from Nursery goes on maternity leave today. We wish her
well and look forward to hearing her news towards the end of
February. We welcome Mrs Jenny Miller to Nursery next week to cover
Miss Turner’s leave. Mrs. Miller comes with a wealth of childcare
experience and we look forward to working with her.
We send our congratulations and best wishes to the Kavanagh family
on the birth of Will at the end of last week.
Open Evening
– A Date for your Diary
We have an Open Evening planned for 11 March from 5.30 – 7.30 pm. We
would appreciate as much help from Upper School children on this
evening as possible, and so we would be grateful if you could keep
this evening free.
In addition to being open to prospective parents, this will also be
an opportunity for current parents to come along and find out about
the next year of schooling for your child.

Our New
Code of Conduct and Rewards and Consequences Procedure
As you are aware, our school prides itself on fostering a safe and
friendly environment so that all pupils have the opportunity to
achieve their full potential. Part of this process is the
encouragement of positive behaviour in and around the school. The
whole staff have recently reviewed and agreed upon our updated
Behaviour Policy which includes our Code of Conduct, and rewards and
Consequences procedure.
Our Behaviour Policy provides the school community with a clear
understanding of expected levels of behaviour through the Code of
Conduct. Please find the time to go through the appropriate Code of
Conduct (there are minor differences for Nursery, Lower and Upper
School that take into account the age of the children) with your
child in order to help reinforce the school’s intention.
The Behaviour Policy is underpinned by the Rewards and Consequences
procedure. We celebrate achievement in a wide variety of ways that
include the giving of certificates and House Points and these,
together with a whole host of other approaches, help develop
children’s self-esteem and confidence. However, it is important
that, in cases of poor behaviour, individuals should have a good
understanding of the consequences of their actions and how best to
improve their behaviour. The Consequences procedure encourages
children to think about their actions and, with guidance, empower
them to change their behaviour in a positive way. A points system
has been introduced and any poor behaviour will be written in your
child’s diary. By doing this, we can work in partnership to
encourage good behaviour in school. A copy of the procedure is
available to read at school if you so wish.
Lastly, may I take this opportunity to thank you in advance for
supporting us with this and I would welcome any comments if you have
any. For ease, you can contact me by e-mail using the following
address:
