Road Maintenance

Thu, January 12, 2012

Carriageway Maintenance Scheme—Otley Road Shaw Lane to Welburn Grove We have received notification from Leeds City Council detailing the following patching and resurfacing works. The work is planned to commence on Monday 16 January and will be from 9.30am to 3.30pm, for approximately two weeks. Road closures will be necessary on some of the side streets at their junction with Otley Road as the work progresses. Pedestrian access will be available at all times and every effort will be made to maintain access to property throughout the working period, however, there will be occasions when access by vehicle is restricted. The Highways Department have apologised for any inconvenience caused. As usual, we would ask all parents to park their vehicles considerately, not using the back lane, as our neighbours have complained they are unable to park outside their own homes. Thank you.

Public Speaking Competition

Thu, November 24, 2011

Last Thursday, I took a Public Speaking team from Year Six to participate in a competition at Bradford Girls' Grammar School, accompanied by Miss Rushbrooke. The team had to give individual speeches, lasting three minutes, on a range of subjects from 'What makes a good school' to 'What I would like to see happen in the world' and 'The life of my dog'. Their performance and their general conduct did them proud - I know that I could not have spoken in front of such a large audience of adults and children at their age - and whilst we did not come away with any prizes (there was stiff competition), I was proud of the way in which they spoke with such clarity and confidence. Some politicians in the making, perhaps?  Mrs J Godsave

Junior Language Challenge 2011

Thu, November 10, 2011

Matthew C attended the final of the Junior Language Challenge on Friday 21 October. He tried so hard and we really were on the edge of our seats during the last stages of the final - he kept nudging to the top and then got knocked down again - he finally came joint 7th out of 37 UK finalists. I was so proud of him and he showed very sportsmanlike behaviour toward the other finalists. Mrs K Lucas – MFL Co-ordinator

Thu, January 20, 2011
