Foundation Stage at Richmond House School

The Foundation Stage is made up of our Nursery and two Reception classes.

At Richmond House we understand how important the first encounter with school life is for both the child and parents. Our goal is to ensure that every child has fun, enjoys learning and is given opportunities to grow.

A child can join Nursery in the term in which they turn three.

We are committed to providing exciting and engaging activities to inspire each child to learn and support each one in attaining positive attitudes and skills for life. Our March 2013 ISI Inspection report states: ” In the EYFS, a broad and varied programme, supplemented by specialist teaching, provides an extremely good balance of adult-led and child-initiated activities, all of which contribute to the children’s successful development.”

The Foundation Stage facility is an integral part of Richmond House School and pupils benefit from the wide range of facilities and specialisms the School has to offer including PE, French, Music, Design Technology and ICT.

The Foundation Stage building is adjacent to the main school and offers spacious and cheerful open plan accommodation giving young children plenty of space to explore and play. The Foundation Stage directly opens onto its own safe and secure outdoor play area with a wide range of age appropriate toys and equipment. The facility is designed to give our younger children the freedom to move between rooms and activities, inside and out, and learn in a manner conducive to their age group. Our March 2013 ISI inspection report states: ” The EYFS accommodation has been recently redeveloped to provide a stimulating environment, which includes a secure outdoor area. This enables children to access a rich variety of high quality resources, both indoors and outdoors.”

Our Nursery offers flexible sessions. You can choose between full day sessions, morning sessions, afternoon sessions or a combination of these depending on individual requirements. Our Nursery participates in the Government Nursery Grant Scheme.

The website highlights some of the key facilities and activities of our Nursery and Reception classes, however, choosing the right nursery and school for your child is such an important decision that we will be delighted to show you around and answer any questions you may have.
