SUMMER TERM 2009 - YEAR 6

Mathematics
We shall look at conversion graphs, especially conversion between UK currency and Euros in preparation for our journey to France. General revision will be done.

English
Pupils will look at different forms of writing such as: traditional tales, poems, play scripts, reports and reviews.

Science
Topics this term are dissolving and sex education in conjunction with the PSHE programme.

History
The children will cover the History of Britain since 1930, and carry out a study of World War II.

Geography
Volcanoes and earthquakes will be studied.

French
TBC

Religious Education
Christian religious buildings, faith and the arts.

ICT
The children will extend their knowledge of control and monitoring through a variety of models and the software programme, Junior Control Insight. There will be a revision of core IT skills to give the children the best possible start at high school.

Art
Pupils will complete their Batik cushions and will then look at packaging. They will use nets to create structures. If time allows, mood and atmosphere will be studied subsequently when working from life.

Physical Education
Athletics (1st Half Term), tennis (2nd Half Term)
Girls: Rounders, tennis.
Boys: Cricket, softball.

Design Technology
The children will continue to work on their ball-bearing project.

PSHE
These main topics will be studied this term.
1) Keeping Healthy - medicines, drug use and misuse, drugs and the law.
2) My Body - emotional and physical changes which come with puberty, how life begins based on the BBC Sex Education series.
3) Making the Most of My Abilities - moving on to senior school.
