Year
3 Year 3 spent the morning at the brand new Leeds Discovery Centre, where thousands of museum treasures are stored. The workshop included learning, first hand, how to mummuify a body using a dummy - the children were taken through the various stages and took it in turns tot remove organs, the brain and finally bandaging the dummy. The children made a bracelet using clay beads and a scarab beatle amulet. They also wrote their name in hieroglyphs on papyrus. Finally, as a very special treat, Naomi, the Museum Facilitator, gave the children a very privileged behind-the-scenes tour of the museum's storage facility where curiosities range from tiny bugs and butterflies to a full-sized Yak! A very exciting time was had by all! |
